What Vitamins Should I Be Taking?

Whether you’re new to the supplement world or not, every now and then the question arises as to “what vitamins should I be taking?” Believe me, I’ve had my fair share of extensive research before I narrowed down to a few of my favorites. Obviously, as to which you should be taking is completely dependent as to what you’re needing.

Of course, no matter which vitamins you decide to settle on, it’s always recommended to check with your doctor or a nutritionist to discuss what you’re looking for, what you’re needing and to get approval before consuming anything. Yes, supplements can end up being counterproductive if taken way too much of a dose and possibly even dangerous which could result in adverse side effects. Though vitamin supplements are safely consumed by many people on a daily basis, overdosing on certain vitamins can lead to serious complications and, in rare circumstances, even death.

It’s also about paying attention to your body and any signs it gives. For example, If I take too many vitamins on the daily I have found that I can end up with a headache and sometimes may have nausea. So, I usually space out my vitamins by consuming them bi-weekly and/or switching my vitamins around (space them out) so I don’t consume too many in one day.

I’ve curated a list below to a few of my favs that I’ve been taking for a few years as well as providing an explanation as to what each one is for. One of them isn’t pictures as I’m currently out and need to purchase another bottle at the store, but it’s probably considered as my holy grail of them all. Hope this lists ends up being helpful whether you’re new and/or wanting to explore a few other brands.

What Vitamins Should I Be Taking?

GARDEN OF LIFE – Raw Zinc

I’ve been taking this Vitamin Code Raw Zinc (purchased from Whole Foods) for a few years. It contains Vitamin C and it’s good for the skin & immune system health. A few years ago I had developed a weird red patch on my back which almost looked like a rash or a burn mark, but it didn’t itch at all. It was odd as I had never experienced anything like this.

I had it checked out by a naturopathic doctor and she had prescribed me to take zinc. Within a few days the mark had cleared and never had it again. Anytime I have acne breakouts, I take zinc and it helps to clear my skin.

Vitamin Code Raw Zinc is whole food nutrition, specifically formulated to provide 30mg and 200% of the daily value for Zinc, plus 100% of the Daily Value for Vitamin C.

HUM – OMG! Omega The Great

This brand is probably one of my favorite discoveries and they have an endless amount of different vitamins for all needs. I want to try them all, but I only choose what my body needs. Definitely worth a look though.

Having a healthy heart is important to me which is why I’ve included Omega into my daily intake and the best part is that it doesn’t have that fishy aftertaste like other Omega fish oils have. A beating heart is what allows me to do what I do everyday and I want to minimize my risk of ever having heart disease and any other type of heart issues. The great thing about this brand is that it contains pure & potent nutrients, non-GMO, gluten-free, sustainably sourced, and no artificial colors or preservatives.

“Supports even skin tone, a healthy heart & body. High potency omega-3 fish oil. There’s no better fish oil. Period. We traveled oceans to find the best omega-3, sustainabily sourced from small fish and surpassing the strictest standards in purity. OMG! delivers high potency omega-3 fatty acids EPA and DHA, shown to help with redness, brighten and even the skin-tone and to keep the heart and body healthy.”

Another favorite of mine which helps to clear my skin & body from toxins. Every now and then when I don’t feel to go on a detox, so I continue taking these instead. The bottle consists of vegetarian/vegan capsules as well as green algae & detox herbs.

“Clear skin starts from within. We combined the Who’s Who of the botanical world in Daily Cleanse to help detox your largest organ (the skin), as well as the liver, bowel, kidneys, lungs, and lymphatic system. Detox and cleanse from deep inside!”

If you’re someone who deals with constant bloating then you’re going to like this one. There are days where I don’t feel my best nor fuel my body the healthiest way possible. This helps my system to digest properly and feel less bloated.

NATURE MADE – Biotin

This is my ultimate favorite for healthy hair, hair growth, and healthy/stronger nails. I first heard of Biotin through a Youtuber and she explained she had lost so much hair and her solution was biotin. Having a lush and healthy mane is important for me and the longer my hair gets (plus the older I get) it tends to shed a lot!

The moment I take Biotin, I notice it falls less and I get extra hair. There are different levels of mcg and each one is different. I usually stick with 2500 mcg and only take 5000 mcg if it’s the only Biotin source I’m taking.

  • 1000 mcg – Helps support nervous system function. Essential nutrient.
  • 2500 mcg – Extra strength. May help support healthy hair, skin and nails. For those low in biotin.
  • 5000 mcg – Maximum strength. May help support healthy hair, skin and nails. For those diagnosed with very low levels of biotin.

AUVON – Pill Organizer

I was on the search for a new pill organizer convenience and space. After researching for hours, I came across the perfect one notes compartments for morning and night. Plus, they individually fit anywhere in your handbag, crossbody or even pocket.

A great case that I recommend and perfect for traveling. I love the colors. Very inexpensive and you can purchase it here on Amazon.
