Oscar de la Renta: A Timeless Elegance

When I think of Oscar de la Renta, I think of the Sex & The City film where Carrie is doing the photoshoot while posing in different wedding dresses. The scene where she is wearing the beautiful, lace Oscar de la Renta dress and a red rose in her hair just took my breathe away. I thought this was absolutely gorgeous and couldn’t help but tell myself that if I were to ever get married, I would love to wed in one of his gorgeous wedding dresses.

Fast forward to present time and I never once thought I’d be face to face with one of his pieces. A sheer, black lace top with an extra piece around the neck to tie a bow/knot. At a quick glance, you’d think of it as any other lace top, but take a step closer and you will notice the beautiful detailing of the flowers. They are not only on the fabric, but they hang from the fabric as well. A delicate piece that one would almost be nervous to wear, but know it’s a classic piece that screams elegance and that one would have in their closet for all time.

Black is really a color that can be worn all year long. With the sheer, breathable material, even more so that the idea of wearing black during the summer time doesn’t seem as intimidating. Pair it with a red lip and you have yourself a timeless, classic look for an evening out on the town. For a moment, you imagine you’re walking through the streets of Spain or Mexico while faintly hearing the sounds of a Spanish guitar playing in the distance.

It may not be the wedding dress in my mind, but this brought me closer than I’d ever imagined.
