A Touch of Lace for the Holidays

One of my favorite things to wear (when it isn’t leather), is lace. Lace is such a classy, elegant, feminine, but also sexy look. I find it’s one of those pieces that you can easily wear with a pair of jeans, or glam it up for a night out on the town. Whether lace is incorporated as your entire outfit, or just a touch of it…it brings out a whole new game.

I recently purchased this cute, lace top at Nordstrom’s. I really liked the overall pattern with the natural tone underneath. The zipper going down across the back also makes it look even sexier as well as the lace embroidery at the bottom. Lace can be such a delicate piece, but it also requires minimal effort to bring your whole outfit together.

I decided to pair it with a pair of black shorts from White House Black Market. I haven’t worn tights since I was a kid and thought pairing them both would work great and get the best of both worlds. Since the top is a little short (more so since it seemed to have gotten shorter after Thanksgiving dinner), I decided to wear a thick belt from Guess. It worked perfectly and made me feel more comfortable knowing that I wouldn’t risk showing any skin. Not only did the belt tie the whole outfit together, but it also created the illusion of a smaller waist.

To add the final details, I wore black leather boots from Marc Fisher; and tights from H&M. I also added some cute diamond earrings; a silver, Michael Kors watch; and my Tory Burch handbag. To add a pop to my lips, I wore Maybelline’s Color Whisper lipstick in “Berry Ready”.
