Hello my Lovely readers,
Here I am once again and I’m super excited about this post. Been wanting to write this for a while as I couldn’t wait to share with you all. So, grab a cup of tea and get ready to pamper your skin.
If you’ve been reading my last few posts, you will know that I attended a Lavender Festival in which I came across a local business (Urban Oreganics) that specializes in high quality skincare products that specifically contain natural, organic, and vegan ingredients. This completely caught my attention as I’m vowing to take care of my skin a little more and definitely want to try to lean towards natural products for nourishing and treating my skin. Anti-aging is a major plus as well as products that specifically target oily skin (like myself). Also, nothing like supporting local businesses as I think they truly hold the key to the fountain of youth…aside from drinking plenty of water and providing your body with healthy foods.
I kid you not, I wanted to purchase everything that was displayed in that tent, but my eyes automatically gravitated toward their face masks. For a while, I had been searching for a really good face mask, especially that came in the loose powder. There were some really good options, but wanted one that was specifically for oily skin, acne prone, and sensitive skin. It was recommended to me to try the Facial Mask – Detox. It’s 100% natural and vegan.
Here are the benefits noted on their site —-
- kaolin clay: anti inflammatory, treats acne
- bentonite clay: absorbs toxins, removes impurities
- activated charcoal: removes toxins and impurities, treats acne, minimizes pores, absorbs oil
As I was reading about this product on their site, I had learned something really interesting which I didn’t know. One good reason to lean towards “dry” products (as in the case of this powder mask) is that you will know you will be getting the freshest product. Those that are already pre-mixed with water or some kind of liquid can end up creating mold and bacteria. The whole point is to create a longer shelf life, which absolutely makes sense. Corporations lean towards creating products that last. Once you think about it, many have to use this kind of method because of the time it takes to create a product, ship, deliver, display on shelf, customer purchase, and the usage time of the product itself before it “expires”. So, it does make you question what exactly are you putting on your face. Interesting stuff to know about y’all!
Along with the mask, I purchased their cute little dish (Convivial) and wooden spoon so I could mix in the facial mask and water. Also, I couldn’t resist not purchasing the softest organic bamboo washcloths! Someone please create me a blanket so I can wrap myself in this during the colder months. I hope you reading this Marley’s Monsters and get the not-so-hidden message I’m trying to tell you! My body would absolutely love you.
The thickness of the mask all depends on you and how much you think your skin will need. If my skin isn’t that bad, I like to create a thin layer. If my skin is in an “emergency state”, then I like to create a thicker mask. Mix in water until you get the consistency you want. Apply to your face and leave anywhere from 15-20 minutes. You will notice the mask will begin to turn white and might even begin to dissolve on its own. That’s when you know it’s ready to remove.
Since I’ve been using this product, I noticed my skin has cleared up a bit. Doesn’t dry my skin as most products can do. My skin also feels smoother after.
This has become part of my Sunday pampering routine. A perfect way to treat my skin and enjoy a relaxing day. I’m looking forward to trying their other products!
